It isn't the biggest city on the map, but it does see the most traffic. This port city is a popular gathering spot for merchants and adventurers, with a variety of buildings both elegant and squat throughout its sprawl of winding streets and alleys. Sandwiched between two kingdoms, Rendezvous is considered a free city, and is often used as a meeting place for diplomats of the north and south kingdom to work out political discussions on neutral ground. It is governed primarily by The Order of the Silver Road, a religious organization that worships the goddess of travelers and luck. Through the taxes levied on residents and merchants, they're able to keep the city moderately clean. Guards are on loan from the various established guilds in exchange for a reduction in taxes, and though they come from different walks of life and values (with some more susceptible to bribes than others), all of them take their duties of keeping the peace fairly seriously. The most popular gathering spot in the city is the three-story inn and tavern: Le Fleur de Mer. The food is good, the ale is plentiful, and anyone looking for a job or adventure knows to come here first to check the Campaign Board. Bar fights are frequent, but seldom last long, as the proprietor himself will quickly leap into action to knock heads together and toss troublemakers onto the street. Plenty of adventurers like to retire here and own a cozy home in the heart of the city or a sprawling manor on the outskirts.

Description: An inland freshwater marsh encompassing the eastern portion of the Snakemoor River. This wetland, being a marsh, has an ecosystem mostly dominated by various grasses rather than trees...but tall grass, bodies of water, and a partially flooded landscape are the perfect environment for semi-aquatic ambush predators. Above and beyond the ordinary dangers like biting insects, venomous snakes, and alligators, travelers also risk encounters with traditional-minded (read: hungry and aggressive) lizardfolk tribes, giant alligators, giant crayfish, deadly electric eels, and a species of giant monitor lizard that is equally at home on land or in the water. And then there are the supernatural dangers - there are a lot of ancient, lonely places out there in the marsh where things cursed and forgotten might wait hidden in the reeds.
A somewhat safer and more settled area can be found around the lake here, in the territory of the Kecuala-worshipping Bitten River tribe, who live spread across several villages where they grow wild rice, fish from reed boats, and herd a slightly smaller breed of well-adapted cattle. They do not enjoy random uninvited guests barging into their territory, but travelers who make the proper arrangements and behave themselves can at least rent lodgings, resupply, get their gear repaired, and buy a meal away from the dangers of the marsh. Two reed barges, pulled by giant monitor lizards, operate out of a village by the river carrying various cargo (and occasional passengers) to and from Rendezvous.
Location: A very rough suggested outline. The western border is left unfinished in case someone wants to expand the wetland that way for more adventuring space or other things.
